Orientation for Nine!

On August 25, 2016 we gathered all the new missionaries and their trainers for our Orientation Meeting. Everyone starts at the mission office for Orientation information from each of the senior couples.

Sister Wells gave everyone information about flats. supplies and cleaning. She has put together a great presentation covering everything from bed bugs to dust mites.

Sister Larson shares information about contact information and publications. Her enthusiasm is contagious.

Elder Wells instructs all the new missionaries about their cell phones, reimbursements and housing repairs and maintenance.

Elder Larson shares information in this training about allotment cards.

All the new missionaries are very attentive and hopefully they are getting a good idea of the overview of the mission.

Our green binder is so helpful to follow up the Orientation with. Every subject covered in the orientation can be found written down.

After the Orientation at the office, we headed to their mission home at 21 Carnation Street, which is only about 5-7 minutes from the office.

We started with a Pop Quiz on facts about South Africa for the new missionaries to see what they already know.
Next we prepared a South African lunch complete with Bobotie (pronounced Bo-or-tee) and Tumeric Yellow Rice topped with banana's, coconut and chutney.

The meeting then began with introductions of each trainer and trainee. It is amazing to hear how connected they become in just 48 hours from when they have been put together.
I am always so honored to associate with these fine young men.

Today we have Elders from Sierra Leone, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, North Carolina, Texas, Utah, and South Africa.

Elder Dube and Elder Dean welcomed everyone and had each of the missionaries introduce their companion.

After the Assistants presentation and overview of the mission, both President Dunn and I share introductions and information.

We finished with our mission song, played by Elder Weg.

Our final parting involved a little Malva Pudding!

Here are our outstanding new 9 missionaries. They are from many different countries and are such a strong group.

Just for fun!
What a great group of trainers.
Elder Hlophe, Elder Pickup, Elder Mazinyane, Elder Warnock, Elder Wegrowski,
Elder West, Elder Wardle, Elder Powell, Elder Benson

Crazy!

What a great day.

  1. I'm a huge fan of your blog Sister Dunn! Thanks for the consistent effort with everything else you have going on in the mission. Your blog provides a great peace of mind as a parent and makes me want to go on a mission to South Africa!

With much gratitude, a missionary parent, that I think, needs to remain anonymous?
