Special gatherings

Each Friday we participate with our missionaries at the Johannesburg Temple. After the session we all head to the canteen area and hold district meeting and then have a quick lunch.

This day was the first temple trip after the May 31^st transfer and afterwards we captured a picture with the entire  Bedfordview Zone. The district lessons were taught by Elder Avarell, Elder Zitumane and Elder Rakotoarison. They all did a great job.

Later that evening, we were invited to dinner at the home of Simon and Wendy Malpage. Wendy has helped connect missionaries to valuable community projects. We hope to carry on and do even more in the future with the Bedfordview Zone. It was nice to see where their home neighborhood and community are located and get to know their wonderful children.

On Sunday June 5^th we had visitors from Salt Lake City over for dinner and some brief sightseeing on Monday morning before their plane took off for Zambia.

We were honored to spend some time with Scott and Jeselie Anderson, Ted and Charlotte Jacobsen, Bob and Kathy Garff and Lynn and Kaye Ellsworth

We had some traditional South African food for dinner and loved having this group around our table. These are all mentors of ours and our Utah community. Each has given back so much and created a legacy of service to follow. We love them all and were honored to have their spirit in the mission home.

One more special visitor showed up last week on Thursday June 2nd. Emily Copier Jones and her husband Eric came through Johannesburg with the BYU Golf Team. 

They called me one afternoon and I was able to meet up with them for dinner and catch up on all that is going on for them. They just got married last November and they were here golfing and traveling with the winning conference champ BYU women's golf team. Always fun to see friends from home and share the amazing missionary experience we are having here in Johannesburg, South Africa.
