November Departure Dinner

Tonight, on  Monday November 24th we enjoyed a special departure night in the mission home with 12 Elders arriving with luggage and passports to prepare for their final night in South Africa.
Lots of preparation goes into getting their passports, travel plans, letters and special packets ready with newsletters and inspiring talks. My mom is visiting and she helped with meal preparation and also packet stuffing!

Elder Ranjato and Elder Kelebogile arrived first with luggage and smiles, despite the rain.

Everyone began to prepare their page to be left in our missionary book.

Dinner places were set for everyone...

.....and dinner is served!

And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.” -Ephesians 6:10  -Alma 7:23

Elder Martin and Elder Fidel were also part of this group, but left a few weeks early, due to needs to be home. We had special dinners for each of them in an intimate setting. Just one on one.

We loved our last night with Elder Fidel on Wednesday November 5th. It was a great chance to talk one on one with him and understand more about his mission experience. He reminded us that he is the only member of the church in his family and hopes he can go home and convey to family members what he has been doing for the past two years.  Elder Fidel is 26 years old and has given his all to his mission experience. It was delightful to spend time with him.

Then on Tuesday November 11th, we had another one-on-one dunner with Elder Martin, who was heading home two weeks early.
 Fidele Sinayobye

“Bowing humbly and reverentially before the redeemer, confessing our weakness, rendering service, making sacrifices, being willing to be inconvenienced, lifting and strengthening one who has fallen, expressing loving kindness… there are the tokens of true christianity, the emblems of discipleship, the coin of the celestial realm. They manifest to God and to ourselves who and what we have become.“  Kigali-Rwanda

The Germiston District came to drop off Elder Martin.  I told them I hope it feels like a long time before they are bringing their own bags and coming for their last night. ( Elder Broadhead, Martin, Allen, Manuma)

Elder Martin from Switzerland and  Elder Broadhead from St. George Utah have been together as companion and trainer
for the past 10 weeks.  They both speak so highly of each other.  They are awesome missionaries!

It was fun to have both of these missionaries leave us with a page for our missionary book. I also loved having my mom able to participate in a one-on-one dinner with a departing Elder before the group of 12 shows up on the 24th of November. She loved getting to know our "Swissionary" Elder Martin before he left for Switzerland.
