Lalee comes to visit!

What a treat it was to have my sister Laurie and my brother-in-law Mike come and pay us a visit.

They first visited the most amazing places thanks to Tim LaPage and Safari Experts (www.SafariExperts.com)  They first went to Victoria Falls then Little Vambura in Botswana for a game drive experience. They then went on to Cape Town and did some sightseeing of the Cape and also some shark diving and on to a game drive in the Sabi Sands area of Kruger Park at the Singita Ebony Lodge.

Needless to say, by the time they got to us they had seen the most amazing animals and scenery and so we were able to add something they had not done…toured a mission and a city.

Johannesburg has quite the reputation for danger and crime. So, it was fun to show them all the things we love about this great place and to also give them a feel for the missionary work we are engaged in.

They were only with us for a few days, so most of what we showed them was the beauty of the area. We used the morning hours and also our P-day to get out and show them things they love at home…..are also right here in Joburg.

We also were able to introduce them to a number of members and to a few missionaries.
I wish they could have seen more of the happenings in our mission, but we were so glad to be able to see them and enjoy time together for a few days. It is wonderful to have their presence as a tangible memory in the mission home. We loved having them with us.

Here is a preview of things we did together.  A little biking, golfing, and sightseeing!
Meeting our friends Lynne and Theo and attending a Primary Program in the Centurion Ward was a highlight. Look at this cake to celebrate the primary children for a job well done.

Cycling in the cradle with our bike club on our P-day was fun!
Meals at the mission home are memorable for us. We enjoyed 4 meals together, including a pancake and strawberry Sunday morning meal!
A visit to the Johannesburg Temple is special and a must. The Jacaranda trees are also in bloom this time of year, so it makes it even more special.

Going to a wedding and congratulating this wonderful couple, Mr. and Mrs. Marc Jackson, was part of our agenda.
A visit to the Union Building in Pretoria to see the seat of Government and where Nelson Mandela was Inaugurated.
Love this popular pose??
Had to show them some Johannesburg golf..since they love to play. They also got to enjoy the South African sunsets.
We also exposed them to some fun Mountain Bike trails. Maybe Laurie will take up this sport by the time we get home.  Yes, those are zebra's in the background!

It came to fast to be taking them to the airport. It was sad for us. to day goodbye.   They have been gone 3 weeks, so it probably felt good to be getting home..but hard to say good-bye!

I love this sister of mine and am so glad to be able to share the place and the experience I am having with her. We loved having Mike and Laurie come and only wish they could come again before we go home in 20 months.
