SAJM February Fireside

It was meaningful to gather with missionaries and friends last night and enjoy a lite dinner and connection. We heard about aspects of the Church in Africa.

We loved greeting missionaries that returned almost 4 years ago and also those that have just come home. We loved seeing Collin Davis (2 months home) and newly engaged Elders- Dane Cowan and also Greg Smith.

Michelle and Steve Rossiter shared about their amazing self reliance work in Madagascar.

Sister Linda Willis and Sister Lucia Foxx shared their testimonies and experience in South Africa and Swaziland. They are headed to New Zealand for a 2nd mission.

Susan Shupe shared the Harari Happy Dance Music Video with us.

Linda and Leif Erickson shared their experiences in Lusaka Zambia as Mission Presidents from 2013-2016.

It is always enjoyable to have such a great group assembled in our home. There was a great spirit and we were honored by the company.

This tablecloth was made for us by Sister Val Caldwell in the Fourways ward. She gave it to us before we arrived home. What a fun gift and one that I love to use.

Zach Louw comes to visit from London/South Africa

What a delight to have Zach Louw visiting Utah on a business assignment. Zach and his wife Amber live in London now, but they are both native South Africans. Zach grew up in Cape Town and Amber in Johannesburg. 
They moved once married to New Zealand and then went to London for job opportunities. Now, they are working for  YoungLiving in London. The job brings Zach to Utah on business, since Young Living is headquartered here.
We hosted a dinner at the BYU Broadcasting Building for anyone that could come on Tuesday January 15, 2019.

We were so happy to get former missionaries and senior couples to be able to attend.

Great to get Sean Pickup - who did not serve with Zach and some of the others, but represented missionaries from the second half of our mission.

Harwards and Brammers had great stories to share about the SAJM and missionaries in Polokwane area. The Brammers actually have gone back and served another mission in the same area- but now in a different mission due to mission boundary changes.

Zach is such a great young man. It has been a pleasure being able to stay connected with him and his wife Amber and little son. Hope to see them all back this way soon.

Holiday Lunch- BYU Dec. 4, 12-1 pm

For anyone that lives in the area, you are invited to gather together on Tuesday December 4, 2018 for lunch at BYU Broadcasting from 12-1 pm. Elder David A. Bednar is the BYU Devotional Speaker that day from 11:00-12:00 pm.  Following the devotional, a casual lunch will be served at BYU Broadcasting in the 3rd floor boardroom. Please RSVP and check in at the reception desk on the first floor.

As the holiday season is upon us, we send our love and greetings to each of you wherever this finds you.  It is hard to believe that all of us served in Johannesburg over the past 5 years time.  It still seems like a dream that we were able to have such an amazing and life altering experience.

We know that life has many decisions for you all in this decade of decision. We have had the pleasure of watching your life evolve and hearing from many of you since arriving home.

We are committed to offering events as we can and only wish we could see those of you that live further away.

Of all the blessings we are grateful for, we feel most thankful for our testimony of the restored gospel and our faith in Jesus Christ. Please keep in touch and give us some updates and know how blessed we feel to have served with you in the SAJM.

Layton Stake Conference-Nov. 17-18, 2018

On November 17-18, 2018 we were honored to be visitors at the Layton Utah Northridge Stake. The conference theme was Small and Simple Things-

President Macrum, President Larsen and President Miller with Elder Dunn to their right and two stake clerks to the left.

We knew this was the stake that Elder Nathan Quigley came from, but it was so wonderful to be reunited with him at our recent Layton Northridge Stake Conference assignment.

President Macrum is a wonderful and committed Stake President. We love meeting  his dear parents and sister who is a wonderful artist. We were so honored to receive this beautiful watercolor of the SL temple.

Draper Stake Conference- October 13-14, 2018

What a pleasure for Elder Dunn to preside over the Crescent View Stake's Conference with President Ron Ostler.

Elder Dunn was asked to preside over the Draper Utah- Crescent View Stake for their fall conference. Tis was the fist one where he did not go with any one else. It was so special to be with President Ostler and his wife Kaye. We loved getting to know them all/.

Elder Dunn also had the privilege of visiting Amy Kunzler and her children with President Ostler. She is a single mom raising great kids. They have visited over 30 temples this past year.
