Today we encouraged everyone to share their #oneword# for 2017 and a brief explanation. Here are the ones I have received so far:
One Word

My word
for this year is hope. I want to have more hope so I can be filled with
positive thoughts. Hope increases my desire to do good. I feel there is so much
to hope for especially in looking to the second coming of our Saviour and
enduring towards eternal life. There is so much I hope for whether it be for
myself, my husband, children, family or friends. As I study the scriptures and
the words of living prophets, I hope for the blessings to come as I live the
truths I learn. As I feel more hope, I pray I can be more charitable to all.

When you asked
us to choose a word, I did what was suggested and wrote down a few to think
about. I couldn’t decide on one, but the next morning I read my “daly thought”
that is emailed to me every day.
This is the
thought and the inspiration for the word I have chosen:
Elder M Russell
Ballard:
“It is only
when we love God and Christ with all of our hearts, souls and minds that we are
able to share this love with our neighbours through acts of kindness and
service – the way that the Saviour would love and serve all of us if He were
among us today. When this pure love of Christ – or charity – envelops us, we
think, feel, and act more like Heavenly Father and Jesus would think, feel and
act.”
And there my word
was, it popped off the page…………………………… CHARITY……………………

My word
for this year is DISCIPLINE. I have so much I need to work on in my life and
instead of making a list of all these things I will strive to practice
discipline in every aspect of my life. A few things I would like to work on is
my faith and for that I need to have discipline in reading my scriptures and
gospel material diligently. I need discipline to work on assignments timeosly
if I want to be better at my calling as Primary president. I need discipline if
I want to better my education and potential work opportunies....

Yes,
my word for this year is ‘ASK’. As I have searched the scriptures a bit
deeper and studied the church doctrines with greater purpose, I have found that
there are so many different ways we ASK for the Lord’s help. I have been
ASKING myself, “Am I seeking answers with a sincere heart, real intent and
faith in Christ”. (Moroni 10:4-5) I looked up the word ‘ASK’ in my
scripture index – WOW – these references will keep me busy for a while. Acquiring
Spiritual Knowledge or ASK. The Lord will answer IF we use
these 3 letters.

My
word is “discern”. The part of it that I want to focus on in 2017 is to
discern the good in others and the good and weakness in myself.

My
word for 2017 is “FIRST” I took it from a scripture in Matthew 6:33 (seek
ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall
be added unto you)
I
chose this word because life is so very busy for everyone and I often find
myself and my family so busy with the good things (like cleaning home, and
doing homework or studies etc.) that we put off doing the important things
(like FHE, personal / family scripture study, preparing for Sunday lessons
etc.)
So
for 2017 I decided to realign my priorities so that we seek FIRST the kingdom
of God and place a greater emphasis on nourishing our eternal spirits.

My 2017
word is: HOME! This is because I have come to feel so at home in South Africa.
In the year that I am scheduled to go home, I have come to realize even more
than ever, that home is where your heart is. I love the notion of turning a
house into a home, of feeling your home is a refuge from the world. I also feel
like our purpose on earth is to return home to our Heavenly Father. This word
gives my life purpose on some many levels.
